Culture Night 2010

This Friday is Culture Night in Dublin. Culture Night is one of the most amazing nights of the year, when all museums, galleries, concert halls, venues and squares in Dublin open their doors and host free events all night long.

Come along to one of the ticket only activities for FIE students:

Irish cultural workshop sean-nós (Irish) singing and dancing at Gaelchultúr Teoranta from 5:00-7:00 pm: meet me outside the Button Factory at 5:00 pm on Curved Street in Temple Bar.

The visit and tour of the GAA museum and grounds at Croke Park including a floodlit tour of the field from 7:30-9:30 pm: Meet me outside the Button Factory on Curved Street in Temple Bar at 7:05 pm.

The beginning Irish language class from 7:00-8:00 pm at Conradh na Gaeilge with the option to stay later and participate in dance exhibition, ceol & craic at 9:00 pm: Go straight to Conradh na Gaeilge located at 6 Hartcourt Street. Just tell them that you are with the Foundation for International Education and that Genevieve arranged everything. I won’t be able to join you as I’ll be at Croke Park.

The 30-minute Mussorgsky piano recital with Sophie Cashell at 7:00 pm at the National Concert Hall: Go straight to the Concert Hall located at Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2 (past St. Stephen’s Green) and pick up your tickets from the box office. The are reserved under my name and the booking number is: 400954. I won’t be able to join you.

The outdoor screening of The Commitments starts at 10:15 pm in Meetinghouse Square in Temple Bar (where the farmer’s market is held). If you want to go it is a good idea to go early.  Remember: dress warmly and bring a pillow and blanket.

There is still room left at all the events, so please let me know if you want to join. Enjoy Culture Night and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone who is participating in the sean nos dancing and the GAA Museum!

Alternatively, if you don’t like any of the ticketed events I selected there are a lot of non ticketed free events you can just show up for on Culture Night.  You can find the full programme here: http://www.culturenight.ie/.
