Will you miss Oktoberfest in Munich this year? Why not go to Dublin’s version of it for free! Dublin takes the honors as one of the only cities outside of Germany to host a “semi-official” Oktoberfest with the nod of approval from their Bavarian counterparts and the good folks at the German Embassy. Oktoberfest grew out of the wedding celebrations of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig I to Princess Theresa von Sachsen-Hildburghausen on 12 October 1810. Today, it is the largest folk festival in the world! Last year Oktoberfest took Dublin by surprise. Over 70,000 people visited this unique FREE Bavarian event! There will be traditional German fun, food (with over 30 food stalls) and entertainment (a traditional German brass band and live German DJs) with over 30 German barmaids dressed in traditional Dirndl’s! There will also be no shortage of Bavarian beer on tap. Come one, come all and find out why the Germans and the Irish have so much in common! See you there!
