Kings of Concrete is set to be the coolest event in the city this summer. Skateboarding, rollerblading, bmx, parkour, break dance, live street art and sweet sounds. There is a lot of activity behind the scenes right now to put together the whopping Kings of Concrete 2011. It’s nearly upon us and it’s sizing up to be the biggest and best YET, spread over two days July 23rd/24th this action packed adrenaline fuelled spectacle is guaranteed to engage, inspire and in extreme circumstances may result in on site spontaneous combustion. 25+ Artists will be transforming the space from a blank canvas on Saturday morning into a living breathing art installation right in front of your disbelieving eyes and this year it will be more than just walls they are painting….huh?…yup, you’ll have to wait and see.

Call out for entries is on for the Capture Kings competition – Can you cut it? Starting on the Friday morning 4 selected teams will compete to try to film, edit and deliver a 4-5 minute piece on the festival by 10pm Sunday night sharp where the 4 pieces will be shown on the big screen at the after party and a winning team announced. The 2011 Competitions are mounting hard and fast with a shed-load of exciting battles for your viewing pleasure. Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for the schedule: Some of this year’s highlights will include: The RampRage Titan ramp which will be eating into the main amphitheatre standing at a whopping 8ft tall. There is an awesome selection of skate, inline and bmx comps along with a big air trick comp, fixie wars, b-boy battles, vespa customisation, freestyle footie, beatboxing demos and more – its gonna be lot to take in. We got some great workshops too for the lil scamps at our Kids of Concrete areas over both days including under 13’s ramp skating, parkour, breakdance, t-shirt making, illustration and more!!
