Get ready– it’s that time of year! The Bavarians will be invading Dublin again this year to infuse George’s Dock with colour, music, sausages and of course beer! Now in its fourth year, Oktoberfest in Dublin has proved a resounding success. Modeled on the annual festival in Munich, Dubliners and visitors alike have taken to this event with gusto. This is your chance to sample some authentic Bavarian dishes, to yodel and dance the polka to your heart’s content or, if you’re more of an observer, to spot a bit of German leg in lederhosen, or barmaids in their fetching Dirndls. The German market will be host to over 30 food stalls selling everything from sausages, meat, pastries and Käsespätzle (cheese noodles) to mountain cheese and ginger bread hearts. All of this and more against a cheering background of traditional Bavarian music. What better way to usher in the autumn!
