‘Knowledge Exchange’: Free Lecture Series at The Exchange
Venue: The Exchange, Exchange Street Upper, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 Website: www.exchangedublin.ie Price: FREE Date: Every Sunday Time: 12:30pm
The Exchange is a collective arts centre in Temple Bar run entirely by young people. It hosts discussions, gigs, visual arts and other performance activities. Most projects originate from the autonomous ‘Exchange Groups’ that use the space as a hub. All of the work done here is voluntary and unpaid.
‘Knowledge Exchange’ is a lecture series that started just last weekend and which will be held every Sunday afternoon. The aim behind the series is to make knowledge of specialist areas more generally accessible. Although knowledge is now freely available via the internet, it can often be difficult to navigate without some former grounding. The advantage of the Knowledge Exchange is that it allows learning to take place in a dynamic and interactive environment. Discussion and contribution are very much at the heart of the mission and those with a passion and knowledge of any subject are encouraged to put forward their ideas for a possible lecture. Each lecture is a stand-alone affair, so you can pick and chose what interests you without needing to commit to the entire series. The next lecture topic is World-Views, Ideology and Artifice and will take place on Sunday October 16th. It is also possible to volunteer in the organizing of events, which might be a fruitful opportunity for those of you interested in a future in arts management. On top of all the other benefits, this sounds like a very good way to meet new people!
